Lyndsay Adamson

Healthcare Assistant

Lyndsay Adamson is our healthcare assistant. A healthcare assistant is someone who helps GPs and practice nurses look after patients and carers. They are an important part of the practice team taking on some of the more routine tasks that used to be done by a GP or practice nurse.

The range of tasks is different in each GP Practice, but you might find them checking your blood pressure, taking blood samples, checking urine samples and checking heights and weights. Many healthcare assistants now run their own booked clinics for these types of checks. Healthcare assistants are trained to undertake specific tasks and are regularly observed by a registered professional such as a practice nurse. They follow guidelines and will always refer you to a GP or practice nurse if you or they are concerned.
