The range of tasks is different in each GP Practice, but you might find them checking your blood pressure, taking blood samples, checking urine samples and checking heights and weights. Many Health Care Assistants now run their own booked clinics for these types of checks. Health Care Assistants are trained to undertake specific tasks and are regularly observed by a registered professional such as a Practice Nurse.
